Meet Your Managing Editor: Tony Davis
It’s been about five years since I attended UPEI. No, I didn’t graduate… it takes some people a little while to figure life out.
My name is Tony Davis, I was born and raised in Prince Edward Island graduating from Bluefield in 2009 and boy I’m aging like a fine wine. Currently, I am attending Holland College in my second year of the journalism program. Through the summer I worked for The Guardian covering topics like business, city council, health, arts and entertainment and pretty much anything else I could get my hands on. I also worked an internship with The Star Halifax in April where I got to cover social issues and discovered a knack for feature writing.
This year, I’m excited to meet UPEI students and discuss issues important to you. There is always something interesting happening at the university and I hope I can offer a unique outside perspective to the campus and The Cadre.
Now that we got the professional resume stuff out of the way let’s get a little more intimate. I listen to way too many podcasts and I hope learning broadcasting this month will lead to producing my own. I like craft beer, cheeseburgers and coffee… so, I’ll be joining all first years in the ‘freshman fifteen’ weight gain.
Sadly, if you Google my name the first article is about me and not by me because I won a car last year. I am determined to change this and if you have a viral story about puppies to straighten out the Google algorithm hit me up.
I’m usually juggling a couple things and I can always handle another. This month I go back to Holland College, start with The Cadre and get married on the 29th all before another internship in October. So, I can directly relate to the stresses of student life.
In all seriousness, I love to write and tell stories. If you see me around campus, come introduce yourself. Otherwise, I can be reached by email at anthonydavis@gmail.com, my cell at 1-902-394-0900, on Twitter @t0nydavis, by well trained carrier pigeon, or you can probably find me hiding at the recently renovated campus pub.
