The Cadre is powered by a small but ridiculously committed team of writers, editors, and creatives who spend their late nights turning campus life into stories worth telling. From breaking coverage to student voices, our staff works hard to keep the publication sharp, honest, and alive. This page highlights the people behind the work: the ones planning coverage, chasing interviews, shooting photos in the freezing cold, and stitching it all together so the campus stays informed.
Editor-in-Chief – Wanhar Aziz (he/him)
Leads editorial direction, oversees print and digital content, manages the team, and ensures The Cadre delivers accurate, engaging, student-focused storytelling.
Hey, I am Wanhar Aziz, a 4th-year Computer Science student and the Editor-in-Chief of The Cadre for 2025–2026! Writing has been a passion of mine since childhood, shaped and inspired by the works of C.S. Lewis and F. Scott Fitzgerald. For me, journalism isn’t just about reporting stories—it’s about putting important matters on the table, sparking dialogue, and ensuring the voices of students are heard.
As the Editor-in-Chief, my goal is to continue pushing boundaries by not only covering news but also creating spaces where students can connect through events, podcasts, and shared stories. Every student on campus has a voice and an opinion, and it’s my responsibility to make sure those voices are amplified. Together as a team, we’ll make The Cadre a platform where stories come alive and our campus community thrives.
Managing Editor – Zhyrn Ochoa (she/her)
Focuses on article editing, and maintaining quality across all stories and supports issue planning, and shapes story development and coverage.

I am Zhyryn, a 2nd-year Business Administration student specializing in Marketing with a Minor in Sociology, and one of the Managing Editors of The Cadre for 2025-2026!
Journalism has always been a true passion of mine, and I’ve loved writing news articles since high school, as it allows me to share stories, spark conversations, and connect with the student body in meaningful ways. I know that not as many students today read newspapers the way they once did, but I believe journalism still has an important place in our generation. I hope to help bring back that tradition in a way that speaks to students now by making it fresh, engaging, and accessible, so The Cadre continues to be more than just a publication, but a platform where voices are heard and our campus community comes alive.
Managing Editor – Funbi Ogunmuyiwa (she/her)
Focuses on article editing, and maintaining quality across all stories and supports issue planning, and shapes story development and coverage.

My name is Funbi Ogunmuyiwa, and I’m a 4th-year Journalism and Communications student.
This is my first year with the Cadre, and I joined because I’ve always been curious (and honestly a little skeptical) about everything. And the Cadre is the perfect place to ask questions, dig deeper, and tell the stories that matter to students. Over the years, I’ve been learning how to do that, and I love getting to be able to share these stories and spark conversations across the campus. When I’m not chasing stories (or in class), you’ll probably find me debating hot takes with my friends or elbow deep in a good book.
Social Media Manager – Jawad Raza (he/him)
Creates visual content, handles Instagram reels, and brings student stories to life across digital platforms.

Hello everyone! I’m Jawad Raza, a 3rd-year Computer Science student and the Social Media Manager at The Cadre for 2025–2026.
From experimenting with colours and paints as a kid to exploring the world of digital creativity in high school, I’ve always been drawn to expressing myself through art and storytelling. What started as a simple hobby quickly grew into a passion for creating visuals and narratives that connect people and spark emotion.
Coming from a family of journalists and writers, I’ve always believed that stories—whether told through words, visuals, or design—have the power to bring people together and give meaning to shared experiences.
As the Social Media Manager, my goal is to bring The Cadre’s stories to life through creativity and connection—building a digital space where student voices are heard, celebrated, and inspired. Together, we’ll turn ideas into stories that leave a lasting mark on our campus community.
