UPEISU End of Year Carnival

As another academic year comes to an end, students gathered for one last time on March 29th in Macmillan Hall at our first ever “End of the Year Carnival” organised by our VPSL, Nathan. The UPEISU staff made commendable efforts in putting up this event. It was an evening filled with amusing carnival games, a printable photo booth capturing memories, customised balloon shapes, and great food.  The carnival garnered a considerable turnout, with between 50 and 80 students attending.

 

 

Nathan shared with us that he wanted the carnival to be a chance for students to forget about their schoolwork and upcoming exams and just be able to have fun in a stress-free environment.  He came up with the idea for the carnival by reminiscing childhood memories and remembering how much fun it was for him when his parents would bring him to the carnival.   Many students can relate to this nostalgia of attending fairs as children and this made the carnival even more fun and special for them.  Nathan’s hope for future carnivals is that they can continue to grow by adding more features, such as bouncy castles.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the genuine laughter shared amongst friends and the sporting cheers when someone won a prize from the giveaways. The entire hall was decorated with banners, lights, and fancy décor. It took me back to the days of attending fair carnivals; the only thing missing was a Ferris Wheel, which unfortunately we can’t have on campus grounds.  The nostalgia and new memories formed at the fair made it a night to remember and I know I am not the only one looking forward to attending the future End of the Year Carnivals.
