Calling all students! The UPEI Arts Review call for written submissions is officially open. We are
so excited to begin working on our eleventh volume of the Arts Review and upholding the
incredible standard that has been set in previous years. What exactly does this mean? Any
current UPEI students with a piece of writing they are proud of—whether creative or
academic—can submit their work to the Arts Review for the opportunity to be published. The
editorial board is completely student-run and committed to sharing the incredible talent and skill
of UPEI students. The Arts Review is not just limited to the faculty of Arts and loves receiving
submissions from students across campus and from any program. Submissions can include, but
are not limited to: academic essays, short stories, poetry, plays, speeches, rants, comics,
scripts, etc.
For students interested in submitting, we ask you to send a copy of your writing to
artsreview@upei.ca along with a 200 word abstract describing your writing and the intent behind
it. The deadline for submission is December 21st, 2021. We accept multiple submissions, so
feel free to send in as many pieces as you would like for consideration!
The theme of the volume is not decided until the submissions are received and we will review
any piece of writing you have to offer, no matter the genre or content. Once the deadline
passes, the editorial board meets to review the pieces anonymously and begins to compile the
pieces into a cohesive text. The goal of the Arts Review is to provide the opportunity to
celebrate student work regardless of faculty or year of study. For students, this means the
opportunity to be published and work with a board of editors to polish your work. Publications
can be anonymous if preferred.
