On Sunday crowds gathered on Queen Street and Victoria Row for Farm Day in the City. From food to music to animals, Farm Day in the City had something for everyone.
Farm Day in the City is an annual event to showcase PEI’s local agriculture and promote local businesses. PEI’s iconic crop, the potato, was available to purchase in all shapes and forms.
Many food vendors brought Island potatoes and prepared them in different ways to promote all the uses of PEI’s agriculture. Other non-potato food vendors offered ice-cream, soup, and even traditional food from other countries for purchase around the event.
Island musicians played in several locations around the event area. Musicians ranged from singers, to fiddlers, to guitarists and more. There were even dancers performing throughout the day including the zombie flash mob dancers who performed a dance to Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller.’
A Cadre reporter spoke to an attendee, Lindsey Abrams, about her thoughts on the event.
“Farm Day in the City is a great opportunity for the island to come together to showcase local artisans and agriculture around the Island,” she said.
“I really enjoyed the friendly and busy atmosphere where thousands of islanders came to participate in the days events.â€
Judging by the large crowd that was present from start to finish, Farm Day was a hit with the public, especially the hundreds of City-folk who swarmed the streets.
