Vagabond Productions Presents: Romeo and Juliet

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRgvXEv5z5Y]

Created by Dr. Greg Doran back in 2005, Vagabond Productions is the company for UPEI’s Theatre Studies Program, which highlights the work of the students in the program. Every year, Vagabond Productions puts on a show and this year, the company is taking to the stage one of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies: Romeo and Juliet.

Set in Belfast during the Troubles, the play is given a modern take as the star-crossed lovers are caught in a family feud between the Catholic Montagues and the Protestant Capulets. Vagabond Productions has also taken its show off campus and will be staging Romeo and Juliet in The Chapel at The Mount Continuing Care Community Centre. Aside from The Chapel being a fitting location to the setting of the play, with the conflicts between Catholics and Protestants, Dr. Greg Doran says the change in location also brings the production and the company’s presence out into the community.

Be sure to support UPEI’s Theatre Studies program and come out for their production of Romeo and Juliet from March 8th – 12th in The Chapel at The Mount Continuing Care Community Centre at 121 Mount Edward Road in Charlottetown. Doors open at 7PM and the show starts at 7:30PM. Admission is by donation or pay what you can.
