The Cadre will be hosting a debate this week for the 2020-2021 UPEISU executive candidates to come together and present their ideas to the student body.
The debate will be Wednesday at 7pm in the Fox and Crow. The debate is open to the public.
The Cadre will be asking questions to the candidates and then opening the floor for students to ask questions as well.
The candidates include Jose Gonzalez for Vice President Student Life, Malak Nassar for Vice President Academic and External, Brian Affouan for President, and Mateo Blacquiere for President.
Cadre Editor in Chief John Ployer, who will be moderating the debate, says the event will be an opportunity for students deciding how to vote.
“The Executive Candidates’ Debate is an opportunity for students to see how candidates plan to operate their offices if elected. It is also a great opportunity for students to see how the candidates stand on the issues you care about,†he said.
The four candidates will be accepting questions about their mandate, platform, and how they will use their term in office to benefit students.
“Expect the candidates to explain how their experiences and their platforms will best benefit the student body,†Ployer said.
The debate is a chance for students to ask the candidates important questions before the voting period which begins on March 3rd and continues into March 4th via myUPEI.
The debate will be streamed live on the UPEISU Facebook page for those who cannot attend the event.
Members of the audience can ask questions at the debate, but students can also submit questions to the Cadre prior to the event via a google form.
