Hello my Cadre Comrades,

My name is John, and I’m the Editor-in-Chief of UPEI’s student news empire: The Cadre. As the Editor-in-Chief for the 2019-2020 year, my job will be to make sure The Cadre is producing the most relevant and interesting content to encourage students to think more critically about UPEI student life through our reporting.

I’m currently a fourth year business student, specializing in finance, with little intention of using my degree. Among my hobbies include gardening, travelling, and complaining about roundabouts. I’ve learned quite a bit from my unique experience at UPEI,  and I’m excited to share my viewpoints with you!

Serving as Vice-President Finance and Admin. with the UPEI Student Union last year taught me a lot about what ordinary students are feeling, and being an active participant in UPEI’s vibrant student community for the last three years taught me just how much really goes on on and off campus.

Student journalism is important. Not only does it improve the skills of young writers, it informs and entertains us with viewpoints relatable to people our age. Every Editor-in-Chief brings a different creative style and skillset with them, but ultimately we at The Cadre strive to speak truth to power with the same passion that we have for the past 50 years.

I’m looking forward to meeting as many people as possible during my term as Editor-in-Chief. The Cadre is always looking for the next big story, and I am always available if you’re interested in sharing your viewpoint to the student body, we’re always looking for submissions!

If you ever want to talk just flag me down or send me an email at Cadreeditor@gmail.com!

And remember kids, the millennials have nothing to lose but their chains.
