Disposition: Keyshawn Bonamy

Disposition is a convergent journalism project initiated by Chelsea Perry. It aims to provide the UPEI international community with a platform to share their stories, and break down the divisive mentality of “us versus them.” The series will be updated on a weekly basis at The Cadre. To take part in Disposition, email cperry2@upei.ca, or text 902-432-4821.

Keyshawn Bonamy is from Nassau, Bahamas. He is a third year economics student.

“I came in the heart of winter, and was shocked when we landed. I was like, ‘Where’s the thing coming to connect to the plane? Do they expect me to walk outside?’ And they did! You know how I got here right? I saw a very persuasive brochure, but it did not show the school during the winter. How can you just have people assuming that this is how it looks year round? You have about three weeks of that in the summer! They’ve changed [the brochure] now. I complained.”

CP: “So, I’m assuming you’re not happy with the snow today?”

“Oh no. I despise it. Cold and tired are my only two emotions.”
